How MoodUS Media Quadrupled Clients
At GreenGeeks, we like to celebrate the wins of our customers, and today, we’re spotlighting MoodUS Media and their growing business. Join me as I interview Tim Robinson and learn how his business grew by quadrupling its client list due to utilizing web services.

Since February of 2024, MoodUS Media has gained a great deal of momentum using our services to expand the business. And it’s stories like this that often help to motivate and empower anyone looking to follow suit with a reseller account.
Building Sites for Government and Small Businesses

MoodUS Media provides web design services in addition to video development, tape digitizing, digital advertising and an AI Audit that can help streamline the business of clients while identifying things such as cash leaks and ad waste. However, things changed greatly when they began offering web hosting in addition to their services.
MoodUS hosts a variety of websites, including the management of the Wyoming County Chamber of Commerce and the Wyoming County, PA websites. Both are professionally designed and highlight the power of WordPress and artificial intelligence.
Government sites are only one segment of the business, though. MoodUS has also built sites for foundations, law offices, and a variety of small businesses looking to make an online impact.
Currently, they manage about 50 hosting accounts of elite and high-end clients. In fact, they are upgrading the reselling account to accommodate even more customers. Part of the growth has a lot to do with setting up the reseller accounts and offering more services.
With WHMCS we went from passing off hosting to offering our own web hosting directly, saving clients money and creating a recurring profit center—and we have full control of our websites.
Since launching the business, hosting and maintenance make up roughly half of their revenue. Thanks to offering the web services as an extension of the business model, the company has quadrupled its client base!
According to Tim, expanding to include hosting essentially saved the business.
If it wasn’t for our web hosting business, we wouldn’t be alive.
Web Hosting and What MoodUS Media Values
Three important facets that Tim looks for in hosting are reliability, pricing, and customer service. Using WHMCS to manage billing, these three elements are incredibly important to keep the business afloat.
This also includes things like keeping costs reasonable. As cPanel’s rates increased, GreenGeeks helps keep server rates accommodating to clients of all kinds. Meaning, MoodUS Media can offer great services without passing too many of those rate increases on to customers.
Comparing GreenGeeks’ customer support versus their last host, Tim is pleased with the results. As a reseller, when something goes wrong, clients will blame you. So, it’s important to have issues solved as quickly as possible. Otherwise, it could lead to a loss of business.
The customer support is much better and tech support is solved much faster.
A lot of extra costs go into maintaining your own servers for web hosting. Power outages, hardware replacements, software updates, security methods, and client backups can cost a great deal of money. But as a reseller, those issues are addressed by GreenGeeks, giving MoodUS more freedom to run its business rather than maintain the hosting hardware and software.
One of the nice things about our services is that we offer a WHMCS license with your account. That means you can take advantage of one of the most popular billing and management apps for web hosting without extra fees. You can automate much of the hosting business, including issuing invoices. And that’s something Tim loved about GreenGeeks.
Running the Web Hosting Side of Things
The MoodusMedia.com website only gets around 1,000 visits per month. In essence, most of their customers are driven by referrals. That means traffic to their site is not the primary focus.
Although they invest in social engagement, local advertising, email, and other marketing tactics, the business relies heavily on internal industry referrals and networking.
The primary concern for Tim is how the client’s websites perform under the GreenGeeks umbrella. And they have some heavy sites to manage without worrying about performance issues.
Tim was kind enough to share some data with us to help highlight how well the web hosting performs for a few of his customers.
In the case of a local youth center, the site averages roughly 2,139 unique visits per month. What makes this astonishing is how well the reselling package handles spikes when the customer is on television or when running big drives, such as the one in August, when traffic increased by almost double its average.

Now, what about a small WordPress site? Data from Tim shows us the data from a local covered wagon touring company and how it averages 3,977 visits per month with ease.

Now, let’s look at something meatier. According to MoodUS Media, one of their government sites doesn’t merely handle the traffic well, but also the various document downloads that happen on the website.
That’s because most local government sites host files that are needed for civic documentation and submission. You may have done this yourself on your local government’s website.
In this case, the site can handle 114 views per hour while maintaining a steady flow of bandwidth needed for file downloads! Of course, the spikes often coincide with elections and important announcements. Nonetheless, the website handles those spikes without fear of overloading the servers or crashing the site.

What all of this means is that the reseller accounts can handle accounts of varying degrees, whether it’s a small business blog or a government website. Mix in the expertise of MoodUS Media, and magic happens for the customers.
GreenGeeks Helping MoodUS Media Achieve Goals
One of the first points that stood out to Tim was how GreenGeeks was “another set of hands” to help when things go awry. While WordPress is an exceptionally stable platform, sometimes problems arise. And we’re always standing behind our customers to help them with theirs.
Another highlight Tim appreciates is how GreenGeeks hasn’t used cPanel’s increasing prices to gouge customers. While some web hosts see it as an opportunity to squeeze a few dollars more out of customers, we do our best to keep prices as low as possible. This translates to helping MoodUS make the most out of what they spend.
Time is always a factor when considering goals. And Tim appreciates the integration of WHMCS to assist with billing. Automation can cut a lot of costs, and we try to make those happen for customers as often as possible.
WHMCS is an amazing backend that helped automate our billing and has helped make us money.
Essentially, we helped MoodUS Media turn a “headache into a recurring profit center.”
Helping MoodUS Media with Technical Hurdles
Perhaps one of the most common complaints I’ve seen from those dealing with technical support staff is how they often treat the customer like they don’t know what they’re doing. While in some cases, it is true that some lack sufficient knowledge, there seems to be a blanket attitude from many tech support staff at various web hosting companies.
However, here at GreenGeeks, we don’t go out of our way to make anyone feel less than. We try to offer a high level of respect to all of our customers to help them in their time of need. And that’s one of the things that weighs heavily on customers like Tim and MoodUS Media.
We are not dumb, and we hate when tech support treats us like we don’t know what we’re doing.
So, when a website has a “hiccup” of sorts, Tim uses our tech support as the extra set of hands to fix a problem quickly. It’s a team effort between Tim and our tech support to resolve the problem in a timely manner.
We also provide cPanel access to the needed tools, which means Tim and his staff can access controls “without the handcuffs.” Instead of opening support tickets, they can take care of problems themselves.
While hosting your own servers may sound like a feasible idea, a lot of costs come with doing so. This includes dealing with power outages, aging hardware, updating software, security apps, and more. According to Tim, it’s “not cost-effective. GreenGeeks solves that.”
Experience of MoodUS with GreenGeeks
Overall, Tim’s experience with GreenGeeks has been a great one. Not only has he not had a major issue with the reseller hosting service, but our tech support staff has helped quickly with the small problems that have happened.
We’ve also assisted in migrations, which was a benefit when Tim was working with his own clients at the time.
I have never had a major issue with GreenGeeks, and every problem I’ve ever had has been solved quickly and friendly.
Perhaps the most prominent aspect Tim comes back to is how well our servers work for his needs, as well as those of MoodUS Media’s clients. The county VPS handles election-night spikes and heavy document downloads with ease, WordPress-based tourism sites handle “traffic like a champ,” and when surges of visitors happen due to events, Amazon partner pushes, and big giveaways, the sites stay active and responsive.
In other words, they handle the traffic and bandwidth needs without fail.
What Are the Top Five Features of GreenGeeks?
As Tim’s company continues to grow, I asked him what the top five features he liked most about GreenGeeks. After all, we like to know what the customers find to be the best value of our services.
Tim’s response in order was:
How Did Tim Find Our Services to be User-Friendly?
There were several ways Tim found our services to be user-friendly compared to other web hosts. For instance, he mentioned how easy the backend is to understand while providing quick links to the important elements of hosting.
We strive to make management of your account easy to navigate, which includes putting products in a single location. That was something Tim pointed out in contrast to one of his previous hosts. GreenGeeks doesn’t make you jump through hoops to find what you need.
From your dashboard, live chat is always available. And Tim appreciates how our chat support works to solve problems instead of sending him in circles.
As I mentioned earlier, our tech support staff helped Tim with migrations and issues regarding DNS. In essence, we saved him hours of work while giving him the freedom to manage his own customers in the meantime.
Lastly, we send clear notifications when there’s going to be maintenance on our servers. This gives customers a heads-up on what to expect in the near future. Tim mentioned how it’s one of the ways we offer user-friendly services.
How Much Money Does MoodUS Save Every Month?
Tim has saved MoodUS quite a bit of money since moving his business over to GreenGeeks. These monthly savings include:
- $500 from running their own server (approximately)
- $350 for host setup and WHMCS expenses
- $1,000 in labor between hosting and WHMCS utilization
Now, consider that Tim has saved approximately $1,850 per month in various expenses as a reseller AND has quadrupled his business because of what we offer and how we can help. With those combined, MoodUS Media is in a much better financial situation than with their previous host by literally thousands of dollars per month!
What Future Plans Does MoodUS Media Have in Store?
Tim wants to continue working with small businesses, small to mid-sized townships, county municipalities, and non-profits. The goal is to provide the best management and setup services possible for organizations to help people get their time back.
As with a lot of website designers and developers, streamlining the process for customers so they have time for other tasks or themselves is where success lies. And a lot of that has to do with automation and utilizing AI to free up some of that time.
I want to work with people who want to get their TIME back to focus on serving the greater good and their families.
Currently, Tim is planning on upgrading his reseller account to accommodate more customers and expand his business even further. We’re honored to be a part of that growth and are excited to see him and MoodUS Media succeed.
The Three Most Important Goals MoodUS Achieved
We all have goals to promote success in our endeavors. And GreenGeeks has helped Tim achieve some of those to impact the growth of his company.
The first goal Tim mentioned was how MoodUS went from passing off hosting opportunities to offering an agency-managed platform while using WHMCS. This process not only saved clients money overall but also helped MoodUS create a recurring income stream while maintaining full control.
In essence, clients spend less money while MoodUS Media makes more through affordable hosting plans.
Secondly, Tim has mentioned several times how fast and friendly our support is and how we treat them like an agency rather than a faceless customer. When a site has a “hiccup,” our tech support staff is quick to fix it as soon as possible, making MoodUS Media look better in the eyes of its clients.
And thirdly, Tim is impressed with our scalable and reliable systems that keep his clients online even through heavy spikes in activity on individual websites.
Scalable, reliable performance (VPS + backups + security) so county, tourism, and nonprofit traffic spikes don’t take us down.
Top Five Reasons MoodUS Media Continues to Use GreenGeeks Webhosting
At the end of the day, I asked Tim his top five reasons why he would continue using GreenGeeks for his reselling and hosting needs. Well, outside of his favorite features he mentions multiple times throughout the interview.
I’ll let him reply in his own words…
I’d like to thank Tim Robinson of MoodUS Media for giving me the opportunity to interview him and his company. It’s exciting to see how we’ve helped with growth and opportunity, and I hope the very best for the future of the business.
